I never imagined that my dream of becoming a published author would come true, I still pinch myself every day! The sight of my novels sitting proudly on my bookshelf makes me burst with happiness. When I started writing I was a full time primary school teacher. I wrote whenever possible in my free time and holidays. I first attempted to write a novel when I was at university. I was studying Italian and History of Art at the University of Edinburgh and I spent many an hour escaping into imaginary worlds rather than doing my ‘proper’ work! After a second failed attempt, this time at writing a children’s book whilst living in Rwanda for six months with little else to do of an evening other than write, I thought I would probably give up on the idea of becoming an author. But then one day several years later, I had an idea that really took flight; I decided to put pen to paper once again (or finger tips to keyboard) and before I knew it my first novel, JUST THE TWO OF US, had emerged! It was published in February 2017 by Aria, an imprint of Head of Zeus (winner of Independent Publisher of the Year 2017 at the British Book Awards.) It was a busy month for me as I also became a mum and continued editing my second book, ONE SUMMER IN POSITANO, which was released by Aria in August 2017. I wrote my third book, THE DISTANCE BETWEEN US, while I was on maternity leave with my daughter and it was published in July 2018.
